As we rapidly approach D(vorak)-Day, I am pleased to share an interview I did about Ann Dvorak over at Vienna’s Classic Hollywood. Some of you Dvorak faithful may recognize Vienna as a long-time commenter on this site. She has been a strong supporter of the Ann Dvorak biography, which I really appreciate and I want to give her a heartfelt thanks for devoting a nice chunk of her blog this week to Ann. She did however make my brain hurt by asking which 5 Dvorak movies I would save if I had to (don’t be upset if I didn’t save your favorite). Which ones did I choose? Find out here!

You might recall a few days ago I opined that “For classic movie fans it just doesn’t get much better than ‘Dear Old Hollywood’ and ‘AnnDvorak.com‘”. Will the umpires allow me to add ‘Vienna’s Classic Hollywood’ into that mix?

    Nice work, Vienna!

Love that photograph of Ann with Richard Arlen. Ann looks fabulous and Richard looks like he’s just discovered that his pet dog left behind a little ‘calling card’ in a corner of the room. Ha ha!

It really is a great time to be a classic film fan with so many movies easily available and the Internet providing an easy platform for fans & scholars to share info.

That great photo is actually with Chester Morris from Blind Alley which has been corrected. Thanks for inadvertently pointing that out!

Your choices for the five Ann films to save is inspired. If only her parts in “Our Very Own” & “Life of Her Own” had been a tad expanded, they probably should also have been considered. Ann’s conversation with Jane Wyatt in “Our Very Own” (which includes a heartbreaking, emotional closeup) ranks up there as one of the very best screen moments from the later part of her career.

Are the interviews still an exciting process? Does getting asked essentially the same questions eventually get tiresome?

Ugh – I just received a target shipping date from Amazon of December 21! Another 7 weeks? As the song goes, “the waiting is the hardest part………………”

I don’t know if I will ever get tired of talking about Ann! It’s exciting to know that people actually care so that keeps me motivated.

December 21st???? When did you pre-order it and do you have Prime? That’s worrying.

I waited till mid Oct (the 13th) to order; wonder if this is the reason for the delayed shipment date?

Maybe. A friend who ordered in August had his card charged this morning, so it’s shipping. Amazon is listing the book as out of stock, but hopefully they’ll get more before December!
